Reese Cox is the driving force behind MTI RACING, with over 20 years experience in the realm of high performance car preparation. As a 1984 graduate from Oklahoma University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, the foundation for things to come had been set. His attention to detail soon opened doors to work with a number of notable pro road racing teams and pro drivers such as Johnny Rutherford, Tommy Kendal, Andy Pilgrim, Boris Said and Tommy Morrison; his involvement in the Corvette Challenge Series paved the way to becoming team manager for Tommy Morrison's team in 1990 in Albany, GA.Reese was crew chief and engineer of this muti-car team, and under his guidance from 1991 till 1994, he had his hand in preparing the teams ZR-1 Corvettes for the '92, 24 HRS Of Daytona. Also in '92 the team posted an amazing come from behind 2nd place finish in the 24HRS Of Mosport race. In 1993 there were victories in the IMSA Invitational GT Series with the Morrison ZR-1 Corvette. In that same year, Reese and crew clinched a SCCA GT-1 National Championship with GM engineer/pro driver John Heinricy as the driver. There was also a '93 Camaro project car "ZR28 " that Reese had prepared for a Motor Trend Tuner Shoot-out, on top of that it was on the cover of the magazine. The next year, 1994 was to be the last year Reese would crew chief for Tommy Morrison, but upon leaving the helm, would post the highest finish ever for the Morrison race team in placing 7th over all in the 1994 24HRS OF Daytona. It was soon after that MTI RACING was established in Atlanta, GA. On top of the duties of shop owner and operator, Reese put on his driving shoes, logging his own miles at the track. In '96 and '97 he raced his '82 Z28 Camaro in the SCCA American Sedan class clinching the regions National Championship both of those years. It was in '97 that Reese first started competing on the pro level driving in the SCCA World Challenge Series. The following year Reese was Rookie of the Year placing 6th overall in the points in that series. In 1999 Reese became part of the C5-R factory development team, this work went on to establish the new Zo6-C5 Corvette package. His team was the first to campaign the C5 race car in the Speedvision World Challenge Series, also racing in the Motorola Cup that same year, MTI RACING became the only Corvette team to ever compete in the full season of both major series. Now devoting his time to the business of MTI RACING, Reese is putting both his racing experience and performance knowledge into tuning mostly street-legal cars for exceptional performance.
